This weekend I lost it. I’m not really sure what the hell happened, I didn’t go completely crazy, but I did eat a little more than I should have and I didn’t get my workouts in like I should have. I wish I had something I could blame it on, but when it comes down to it the only blame there is is that I lost the discipline I’ve had for the last few months.
While normally this wouldn’t bother me, it would just be a quick turn around one day thing and back to it, but something was different this time. It wasn’t just a normal slip, it was a slope. It started with one bad choice, and went downhill towards a landslide. It led to me getting down on myself about it pretty bad, which sent the settled “debris” rolling again. It seems it has stopped, I am not letting myself get down on myself but really reflecting on it, and rebooting the discipline.
There normally isn’t anything wrong with letting yourself have a treat here and there for all the hard work, but unfortunately mine went too far. We’ll see how bad it sets me back in the next few days, but ultimately I’m back to it, the self discipline is going to be back whether it likes it or not.
For anybody else who has come across this, had their progress impacted by it….it can be a bitch, but just need to find your focus and remember your motivation.

Yeah, the worst thing you definitely can do is feel bad about yourself when that happens. That only makes matters worse. If that happens, it's usually because something internal caused it, whether your aware of it or not. It's better just to enjoy the fun/food you normally wouldn't have, say, "this is fine, I'm going to just enjoy this for a day or two, no condemnation," then get back to normal discipline once it's out of your system. It makes being disciplined more enjoyable and also more possible when you know you'll allow yourself those "special" times here and there without any guilt. Good job reflecting on it. Every experience is a learning experience!
