Been a while

It has been a while since I’ve posted here.  I have not forgotten about, or gone of my program, I am still sticking to it strong, even with all the temptations of the holidays.  The one thing I have slacked off on is the working out that I had been doing, but I am getting back to that hard this week.  Anyway, here is a comparison picture in some different clothing.  The others were getting way too big.  I also expect to hit the 40lb mark or loss by tomorrow or early next week. Smile

Post Thanksgiving….

So, these last few days I have been down at Cannon Beach, OR with my family for the the Thanksgiving holiday.  Unfortunately during my time there I did eat a little more than I should have, I ate things I shouldn’t have, and I slacked off on my exercises.  So, I gained 1.6lbs from before I left.  Even though I gained, my measurements were still on the decline…so I guess it wasn’t all horrible, and 1.6lbs is something I can easily recover from.

I hope everybody else had a great Thanksgiving, and is gearing up for the Christmas season….lots to do , and lots of food to stay away from Smile

6 Weeks Down

So today marks the end of 6 weeks, and the start of week 7.  Even with my going out to dinner at Applebees, I still managed to drop another 5.2lbs.  This is a great feeling so far.  I couldn’t help it and decided to take another picture this week.  Instead of the every month picture.  This is the same clothing I wore for my initial picture and the 4th week.  So, here we go.

Something to shoot for

Here is a picture from 1998 when I was graduating from USMC Boot Camp.  I still have all my uniforms…and well, we are going to see how long it takes to be able to fit back into them Smile  One month down so far….wonder how many more to go.  I’m on the right.

Week 5 Weigh in

Well, this week I weight in at 241.2 lbs, leaving me at 4.6lbs lost this week…and a total of 23.8lbs.  I am well on my way to making my goal of hitting 235 by Nov1….I may have to adust my goal to get down into the 220’s.  It will be a great day when I can see the scale reading in the 230’s though…as I have not seen that for quite a few years. 

Not much to report this week, just looking forward to thanksgiving when I go to the Oregon Coast.  I know I’ll end up off plan for a night or two, but I will be walking the beach a LOT and being as active as I possible can.  I will still be recording everythign I eat too…so I will make sure I try to keep on track Smile

Job Hunting…

So I got word yesterday from the City of Richland that I did not get the job with the Dispatch around here.  I have to admit, while it sucks because I do need a job, I am relieved.  Instead of just settling for that job, I am able to continue working out, losing weight and focus on doing what I ultimately want to do…become a Cop. 

I have to say that I am actually more focused now than I have been in the last month.  I will be testing through publicsafetytesting.com in March when they have some testing here in the Tri-Cities.  I will continue to focus on just losing weight up until January…and then I will switch more towards training for the testing.

It’s a sad day job wise…but the bright spot is so much better Smile

Four Weeks Down

Well, 4 weeks have gone by since I started Nutrisystem, and I would like to say I have made some progress. As of today I am down to 245.8 lbs., or a loss of 19.2lbs over the last 4 weeks. I do feel a lot better about everything, and the wondering of if I can actually do this is going away, and turning to a “Hell yes I can!”

So, other than that, there isn’t much to add, but here are some pictures I took this morning…hopefully…I really hope, there is some sort of visible loss.

Benefits Of A Good Workout Routine

So, up until last week Wed. I had spent at least 4 days a week at the gym doing cardio, some light lifting, etc.  I had kept this up for about 3 weeks until I had to stop do to starting to feel the pain in my left leg…a strained muscle.  So I ended up taking 5 days off of the gym with only 1 or 2 short walks to keep the blood moving in my legs.

Anyway, why do I bring this up?  Well we all see the gym as something that will help keep you in shape, or help get you there, however many of us may just feel the dread that comes with even thinking about it.  I know I did.  Well, there is another benefit to the gym, and that’s the good feeling it brings.  I noticed over the last few 5 days how my good feelings that I had been feeling quickly started going away.  I started feeling down, tired and much less energy.  Well today after a good workout I can feel the good feelings starting to come back again.

So, don’t just think of the gym as something to dread, or something that hurts.  Think of it instead as something that brings good feelings and better mood and happiness.

Week 3 Weigh In

Well, today marks the 3 week point since I started this whole thing.  When I started this whole thing I was at 265, the heaviest I have ever been in my life.  I am happy to say that with today’s weigh in, I am down to 249.8lbs  This is an awesome feeling!

Another Method…

So, over the last few years I have been fighting to try and find a program that works for me to lose weight.  It has not been pretty, or easy and I have had more failures than I care to count.  Well, I decided to try this whole Nutrisystem thing and drop a lot of weight before I try going back on P90X.

I had gotten up to 265lbs….the most I have ever been, and it was just disgusting to me.  It was depressing, and it was sort of a black whole…seemed I just couldn’t escape it.  Well I have been on Nutrisystem for 3 weeks now, and I am down to 250…so this thing is actually working.  Unfortunately I have having withdrawals and cravings for those oh so tasty, but horrible for you foods.  These are cravings that rival the cravings I had when I quit smoking.  I am holding on though and have stuck to the plan almost 100%.  There has been 1 day when I had a few drinks…just a couple Captain and Diets…so it wasn’t so bad.

Anyway, I’m hanging in there and hopefully will be keeping this updated.  The plan is to get down to about 190lbs…and then switch over to the P90X program again.
