The wind today was upwards of 30mph, and the first 1.5 miles was straight into it. That really sucked...and kicked my ass

Busy Month This Month…
So, this month is going to a pretty busy month. I'm not sure if I had mentioned it here when I started, but one of the biggest motivations for me losing weight and getting in shape, other than my own health, is that I want to be a cop. Up until recently there was no way in hell I would be able to pass any of the tests. Anyway, this month the fun starts. I have tests on:
3/10 – EWU
3/13 - PST.com
3/18 – Moscow, ID
3/19 – Birthday
3/23 – NTN.com
3/25 -3/26 – Tacoma
This is going to be an interesting month... Some of these tests are pretty close together, but at least I have a good rest day between the two :) Only a little travel for them...the most is a 6 hour drive from here, so it will be a fun one.

Self Discipline…
This weekend I lost it. I’m not really sure what the hell happened, I didn’t go completely crazy, but I did eat a little more than I should have and I didn’t get my workouts in like I should have. I wish I had something I could blame it on, but when it comes down to it the only blame there is is that I lost the discipline I’ve had for the last few months.
While normally this wouldn’t bother me, it would just be a quick turn around one day thing and back to it, but something was different this time. It wasn’t just a normal slip, it was a slope. It started with one bad choice, and went downhill towards a landslide. It led to me getting down on myself about it pretty bad, which sent the settled “debris” rolling again. It seems it has stopped, I am not letting myself get down on myself but really reflecting on it, and rebooting the discipline.
There normally isn’t anything wrong with letting yourself have a treat here and there for all the hard work, but unfortunately mine went too far. We’ll see how bad it sets me back in the next few days, but ultimately I’m back to it, the self discipline is going to be back whether it likes it or not.
For anybody else who has come across this, had their progress impacted by it….it can be a bitch, but just need to find your focus and remember your motivation.

209
So, today I have dropped below 210 for the first time in about 6 years. It is a pretty amazing feeling and I’m finally starting to actually SEE the results myself. Up until recently I haven’t really noticed anything unless its comparing pictures. The last week or so I am seeing it though, and its great. I won’t be updated the pictures though until March 1st. I think I’m going to start keeping it updated on the first of each month.
As the title shows I am currently sitting and 209lbs. My original goal was 190, based on what I was around when I was in the Marine Corps. After looking at myself in the mirror and pictures, it seems I may need to lose a little more than just the 190. Seems I did not account for the muscle mass I had then and there has been more fat content over the last few years than muscle mass. So now I’ll probably shoot for more like 175, get down to that, and hopefully the rest of this damn stomach fat will be gone.
As for just some personal thoughts, I am looking forward to Spring getting here. I have a few tests with Police Departments to go do, as well as camping season coming up. My first trip will probably be down to the Tucannon area, either for Turkey hunting season, or just when the lakes open up for fishing there. There are some good “hills” to climb, ok, they are bigger than hills.
Anyway, staying motivated and positive here and now I need to get some new clothes again, I’m swimming in my old ones again.

2 Miles by jtaylorewu at Garmin Connect - Details
I managed to shave a little time off my last run. I'm still not quite ready to bump it up to 3 miles at that pace yet, but another week at 2 miles and then I'll start doing the 3 miles.
For those of you who aren't aware, I have recently signed up for the July 16th, 10:30am wave of the Warrior Dash in North Bend, WA. This is going to be a blast, and if you haven't seen it check out http://www.warriordash.com
Another event that I'm really interested in doing is the Tough Mudder event that is slated to happen sometime this year or next year in WA state someplace. This one is supposed to be between 7 and 12 miles and just a kick in the ass. I am looking forward to training for that one. http://www.toughmudder.com
Anyway, off to stretch and get a shower...damn I stink :)

It’s a Great Day!
So today marks another great day in my adventure towards fitness. While the scale only dropped 2.4lbs this week, I lost quite a bit from the measurements. Another 1/2” off the waist, same with the waist and chest. It has been great, and I’m feeling great! My run time is down, and I’m looking to start extending my runs longer and longer and wanting to start doing some 5K runs that happen around here.
Also, I have taken some Updated pictures as well

Sick :(
So I woke up this morning feeling pretty crappy. I was hoping that my allergies were just starting to act up, as they tend to do that about this time of year. Early for it I know…but I guess I have some weird allergies. Anyway, I took the allergy medications that I usually do to take care of it, but sadly they had no effect. I ended up taking some of that wonderful Dayquil and that has worked. So hopefully after a lot of water, and some good rest I will be back at the gym and good to go tomorrow.
On a side note, my application is sent off and if everything goes right I may be heading back up north next weekend for the Physical Agility Test with one of the places in Idaho that I’ve applied with. Things are finally starting to move in the right direction in life

Break on Through!!!
So, this week marked a huge break! The last few weeks I had hit a wall with my weight loss. The scale wasn’t changing much, I wasn’t feeling like much was changing. I did finally get back to running though, so that was a good feeling.
Anyway, this week marked a 5.2lb drop! I am back to my big numbers, hopefully I can keep this up and I am damn near at the 50 lbs lost mark. Next week should mark that easy as long as I keep to my plan and my exercise! I’m loving it!
Well, here are some updated photos. I apologize for the glare in the newest one, seems I just had great timing with it.
This first one is a comparison from day 1, until today, the start of Week 16.
Here is the week 16 image alone

Checking Back In
Well its been a few interesting weeks since I've been in here. I have not been 100% on plan for the last few weeks as there was just so much going on, but I did try to make good choices. I did partake in some New Years fun, but not to the extent I would have in the past.
At the start of the holidays I was at 227.8, and while I did partake in a some holiday cheer, have not exercised nearly as much as I had I still managed to drop a few more pounds. Well then, now that everything is over its time to go back 100%....Fully on plan and back to my workout routine. I think the workouts will be the hardest to get back to, but it will only take a couple days to remember how good it feels and get that full on desire going again.
Reality is also finally starting to set back in for me. While I still see Mr. Fatty McFat Fat when I look in the mirror, I am starting to catch glimpses of the progress I've made. Mostly in pictures but also in the reactions from other people. There have been a few people who haven't seen me since I started that have greeted me with a "Holy shit Mr. Skinny" or something along those lines. I've tried not to let it get to me but remained humble, and kept a "Not yet, but I'm getting there" attitude. I fear that if I start going along with it, I will start to slack off more than I have. I do enjoy that people are noticing though.
Anyway, on this day, 1/11/11 it is back to the full routine. I will be starting to test for Police Departments this month and over the next couple months. I am finally back on course for my life. While I've had some rough days, this is still one of the best choices I have ever made.
New pictures to come next week
